
Hatha Yoga & Ayurveda Workshop
Optimise your health this Autumn through the wisdom of Ayurveda, the world’s oldest and most effective healthcare system. Ayurveda is a science of life, and wisdom comes from knowing your unique body and its tendencies toward imbalance.
Along with the beautiful colours of changing leaves, comes the shorter, colder, dry days of Autumn, or Vata season. It often begins with feelings of overwhelm and constant thoughts like, “I have so much to do and not enough time to do any of it.” Imbalances may show up as dry skin, constipation, gas, bloating, high blood pressure, anxiety, and fear.
During the Autumn season our minds can be very scattered, our energy can become depleted and staying balanced can be difficult. In this workshop, you will learn easy yet powerful tools to stay grounded as we shift away from Summer into Autumn and beyond. We will begin with discussion, have a short break and then share a gentle hatha yoga practice and guided Savasana to help balance Vata. Self-care is key, so come prepared to nourish your mind, body and soul.

What to expect
– an introduction to the basic principles of Ayurveda – an understanding of Vata dosha, causes of vata aggravation and signs of imbalance in the mind and body.
– tips on staying balanced with foods to favour and minimize, lifestyle adjustments, herbs, oils; and meditation and yoga practices.
– a mindful, gentle, nourishing hatha yoga practice and guided Savasana to help balance Vata – an Ayurveda Goodie Bag to aid in your daily self-care practices.
What to bring to class
Yoga mat, 2 bricks, 2 blocks, yoga belt, a blanket, a cushion, a yoga bolster and a journal.
If you don’t have all or any of the equipment listed above, don’t worry. We have all the equipment you will need for this class at the studio.

I feel that Same Star did an amazing job of managing and navigating this year of YTT whilst experiencing the pandemic. There were so many changes that needed to be managed either last minute or with monumental shifts in the way the course was taught. Being faced with a global pandemic that overnight stopped us from being able to meet, gather and be taught in person was something none of us have encountered. But Same Star managed to create opportunities for us to continue online, bringing in brand new technology, as well as adapting group size and location changes (retreat), to ensure we could still continue with our training. I’m so happy that global events didn’t stop the course from going ahead and Samantha & Faye worked so hard to help that happen – thank you!

I love the space that you have created. It's brilliant to have access to the bolsters, blankets and blocks. The space always feels clean and inviting. Please keep the space minimalist. It's a nice haven away from the frantic outside world! All of the teachers create a really supportive environment where you feel confident to try new things or rest if your practise isn't quite at that level yet. I like to feel challenged physically and see progression week-to-week. I always enjoy the relaxation at the end of the class.

I love that it is a safe, supportive environment with excellent teaching. The space is always set out beautifully and it feels very relaxing. I like the fact there are plenty of props available to use to help with poses. The classes are extremely well planned and it is clear that much thought goes into each session. I love that individual growth is encouraged and different abilities are supported.

Its a very welcoming space, it's easily accessible and has a lovely feel. I feel held and safe to be myself in the space. I love the variety of classes and particularly value learning yoga as a 'whole'...the philosophy, pranayama, meditation, chanting etc, as well as the asana practice. It is a sacred space for healing and learning, reflecting and to focus. Classes in good setting and atmosphere is achieved. Yogis have appreciation for all things that make us unique or how to correct postures, with what seems to be a naturally in-tune way of instructing us on a safe and individual level.
