Recovering from injury? Looking to enhance your postural alignment? Looking for an exercise regime that is non impact and supports your general health & well-being?
In this six week course Same Star Yoga will share with you the core pilates principles & take you through a repertoire of exercises that tone, mobilise, strengthen and stretch building increased body awareness, injury recovery, improved sports performance and enhanced postural alignment.
No previous pilates experience is necessary.

Fitness experts and medical practitioners know this, which is why you’ll see pilates and yoga as part of regular training programmes, and why your GP may suggest pilates to aid recovery after injury, maintain better posture, and to resolve pain caused by bad posture in the working environment.
Over-tightening and over-lengthening of muscles creates imbalance and instability to our bodies. Heavy workloads bring on high levels of stress, and a round-shouldered, closed chest position we often adopt at work restricts the depth and the width of our vital energy source – our breath.
Pilates looks to correct all of these imbalances and promote correct alignment, mobility and flexibility in the body leading to a happy and healthy life.

What to expect
- A guided understanding of how the core muscles work and the effects it can have on us when these internal muscles become inhibited
- Maximum of 9 students per course
- Understanding the importance of taking the spine through the 4 ranges of movement for spinal health
- A greater understanding of your own body, the muscles that may be over-tightening or over-lengthening & creating imbalance & instability
- Witnessing & correcting restrictions and or faulty patterns in the breath.

Optional: Yoga or Pilates mat & blanket
If you don’t have all or any of the equipment listed above, don’t worry. We have all the equipment you will need for this class at the studio.

Who is the class for?
This course is suitable for all levels, particularly beneficial for those overcoming injury. Pilates can be taken up by anyone, mobility, fitness and age is immaterial.
