Yin yoga uses supported, long, passive holds to work on the deep, dense connective tissues of the body – the fascia, tendons, ligaments and cartilage – which are difficult to energize and open.
Using a combination of support props including bolsters, bricks, blocks and blankets you will be encouraged to find an appropriate edge to rest at where you can be with the sensation that arises without feeling any tension. Once there, you can turn your attention to the more subtle physical and energetic cues that over time will give you more information about what is happening within your connective tissue.
This approach gives us the opportunity to remould our postural patterning and bring health to these yin tissues.
This class is suitable for yogis of all levels of experience including complete beginners

Almost all yoga practised today is dynamic and muscularly active, it is considered to be ‘yang’. Yin yoga balances this to bring harmony in our practice.
There are three Tattvas (principals) to be observed in Same Star Yoga’s yin classes:
- Come into the pose slowly finding your own edge, where there is sensation but not overwhelm (physically, emotionally or energetically).
- Become muscularly disengaged – support your body.
- Commit to holding the pose.

Yin Yoga is your weekly “digital rest bite” that provides the tools to manage the increased stress and fatigue placed upon our minds due to “information overload” of the digital age.
This class teaches Yin Yoga and Meditation techniques to reduce the level of noise and intensity of the information within our minds by reconnecting with our physical body. The outcome is that we can tap into the ancient wisdom of using our bodies to guide us to the places that make us successful and happy.
Whether you are a CEO working out your next corporate strategy or a parent of a busy household, this class will help you cut through the maze of information in your mind and enable you navigate through our daily challenges of being human.
